You might want to look a bit further into those quotes and their context. I suspect you're looking at things through red-tinted glasses. Obama's most certainly not as far to the left as Huckabee is to the right.

Back to stumbling into this thread.

I hate McCain because of his views on health care. I'm sorry, but allowing people to buy health insurance across state lines is ASKING for trouble. Each state has laws concerning insurance and dates for health care providers... It's just asking for trouble. I like Obama's view on Healthcare

I would have voted Ron Paul... I liked him ;_;

Heres my opinion..the President alone does not have the power to take our guns..the NRA has pushed this propaganda for as long as I can remember, plus the recent supreme court ruling on handgun ownership has IMO ended that issue..Bigbob not many places to go..most countries have very strict gun laws in place. I dont think everyone and there brother should be able to buy military grade weapons..sorry but as much as I believe in the 2nd amendment I sure as hell dont want Bob shooting coyotes with a MK 19 (sorry Bob.. ;) ), the question I would like to see answered is what does Obama consider sensable gun control. Its the same crap every 4 yrs.. Just like abortion every republican president is against it but guess what its still legal. Hell gay marriage is legal now.. I know all the canidates are against it as is Bush but its happened. I doubt either will finish a full term and I personally dont want Palin running this country.

I didn't say anything in praise of Huckabee here (or ever for that matter), so I am not sure how his conservatism has anything at all to do with what I am saying about Obama's Liberalism.

I'm really not trying to convince you of anything for that serves me no purpose, but I have never heard anyone else attempt to paint Obama as a centrist, even my friend who donated a room in his house to the Obama campaign in Iowa and has the regional chief for his area of the campaign living there! He has no problem admitting Obama's liberalism and is proud of it for some reason.

The government has the right to change the constitution.
No they don't. Our government system was designed with checks and balances so that we (theoretically) control our government, not the other way around.

I certainly don't want to live in a "Big Brother" society b/c the government "has the right to change the constitution."

our guns should never be taken away. if they ban guns I will die cause I will fight to the grave before they take mine. and if they do try to take guns there will be lots and lots of death. it will trigger another civil war. and look at austrailia. crime rates went down 1% after the ban. and now crimes are more violent and people getting stabed and beat to death. u can survive a gun shot better then being stabbed. I know u all been cut before. a razor makes a clean cut and takes forever to stop bleeding which is a stab wound, then if u get a jagged cut it stops sooner then a clean cut of the same depth because the blood has better areas to stick in order to clot. and a bullet makes a jagged wound. but anyway criminals will still get guns and then the law abiding citizen will be defensless. I'll quote Charelston Heston "they can pry it out of my cold dead hands!" I'll never give up my guns

Checks and balances don't work. the only way we can control the government is if the government is afraid of it's people and our government has to much power. the people are afraid to stand up to it and we all herd like sheep doing as we are told. we need to show the government that we are not afraid and make them think twice before they make a new law.

this seems relavent:
Count ur blessings walk the line
Don't move to fast or fall behind

There are rules u must obey
they get re-writen by the day
don't do this don't say that
ur every move is logged and tracked
by the all oppressive eye
spy satalites in frendly skies

The new american century
has only just begune
No one exempt from the tragedy
counter attack start pushing back

Fight the power
that chokes ur speech
Fight the power
that makes u bleed
Fight the power
that propogates lies
to keep u weak
keep u in line
fight the power that reigns u in
divides and conquers
defines ur sin
fight the power
for one and all
before the power swallows us whole

No one dares to say a word
our panic drives all human herds
in the land where cash is king
our silence bought and sold for free

The future's banging at our door
When real I.D. will be the law
love thy neighbor turn him in
it's called patriotism

The world is watching in disbelief
chanting shame on u
How can u stand by so quietly
Letting them rape ur liberties

U can't be bothered or concerned
you see no reason for alarm
Predjudice, Religion hate
usher in the new mandate
Absolute and resolve
one nation under one god
Lack of intrest has it's price
As we're stripped of all our rights

those who cannot learn from history
are doomed to repeat it!

lol, hence the "(theoretical)" part.

Gone are the good old days when the government was afraid of us. It's pretty sad how ignorant and sheep-like a HUGE chunk of the American people have become... but I suppose that's what happens to people when they're always looking for the easiest way to do things... Let someone else do it. :(

I have to ask..when was the government ever afraid of us? And exactly what liberties have been taken away from any of us here, last time I checked I can do more know than I could have 30 or more years ago. Yes there is warrantless wire taping and the internet is open for all anyway, I dont agree with it but IMO if your not doing something illegal then you have nothing to worry about. Plus wouldnt you turn your neighbor in anyway if you new he was into illegal activity, drug, child porn, molestor, etc or would you just turn the other cheek? The patriot act hasnt harmed me and I doubt it will harm anyone on here, hell my privacy is invaded more by credit card companies checking my credit without permission, trying to get me to sign up more or those companies selling my email and phone info to others.

Even Clintons ban on semi auto weapons/large capacity magazines was full of loop holes..I could still buy a 30rnd mag as long as it was "used". Same with AK's/SKS's/etc. as long as they were "pre ban" they were legally sold.

Canada makes gun owners register ALL firearms, Australia-- no semi autos, Britian is restrictive to but not sure to what degree.

the love thy neighbor turn him in part is refering to the patriot act. basicly u can have a law abiding neighbor and just turn him in as being a terrorist with no proof and that person will be arrested to prevent a terrorist activity even though they are good people. and there is no true freedom of speech. political correctness is steralizing what we can say. it is no longer acceptible to most to say black person, colored person, and I've noticed here at least u can't say african american because it implies that they are not true americans. I have been told that before from a black person.

our government has added things to the constitution and has taken things away. the 17th amendment off the top of my head was a good thing to add. slavery is wrong. but there are also things that have been taken away. it's been a long time but in high school I did a paper on the constitution and if I remember correctly there were 4 "rights" that were removed.

The civil war is a good example about how passionate people were and were willing to die for a right and what they belive in. it devided the country for many years and that kind of show of force did scare the government and they were more carfull about what they did because they knew that the people had the ability to stand up and fight for what they belive in but now noone dares to stand up besides to just open there mouth which then there words fall onto deaf ears.

if they try to take away my rights that I belive in like my right to bare arms I will stand up and I will be on the front lines to protect them at any cost. I'm not just talking bout to bare arms but any right that I truely belive in.

Now I'm not trying to promote any anti american or anti government slander. I love living in the usa and I don't want to live anywhere else. I know the usa is not perfect and will never be perfect in my life time. I'm just one of the few people that are passionate in my belifes, values, and country. I truely belive in order to be heard u need to stand up and force the government to listen.

thank u airborne. I knew 17th didn't sound right. but either way I have a feeling that this country is going down hill and will be driven straight into the ground if obama becomes president. at least till he is assassonated.
