did you test the water conditions? use a freshwater test kit to see what is really going on with the water conditions.

forgot to update here... so things were looking great...visually. algae was disappearing and tank water was cleaner. so i stopped by my LFS....and the mistake i made was getting catalina water.... tank went to heck after that. massive algae bloom and basically all the progress i made was gone...

you can skim on the nano. they sell nano skimmers so definitely look into that. but most of my filtration is just the skimmer and live rocks. and water changes if i remember. also..you can look at nopox if nitrates get too crazy which is what i am doing now with my tank.

trying to blend in with the crowd. :) probably prefers the cichlid food over his algae wafers is why he's acting like that is my guess.

i did one on my nano. it helped out also with the water volume and i had a mini chiller attached to it to help keep the temp cool. put the water heater there too. if you can do it..definitely do it.

is there a sump? i've done in the past is vacuum the water into a filter bag into my sump so the water just goes back into the tank and the filter bag catches the particles. manually stirring the sand top? might take awhile. how about adjusting your powerheads to have the water flow stir up...

i like supporting new ideas and found this aquaponic kit on indiegogo (like kickstarter). love the idea of aquaponics but it just seemed kinda complicated to integrate into my tank. so seeing this at least i can kinda try it out and see how it really works. only questions is like how does it...

hi there, sorry i didn't see your message earlier. i think by now they should've given birth. so did you notice if it was 1 or 2 days? or how many days?

29 gallon..my first tank size. still kept the stand and the eclipse filter on top (remember those) for that one day i want a simple setup again. why can't you keep paradise gourami with tetras? except for the fact that they might eat them right. i just remembered no angels with tetras.
