Can I just tell you how happy I am that my husband is not the only one obsessed with star wars legos? I got him the millennium falcon for his birthday a few years ago. I don't get it. So anyway, judging from that you can probably tell I will be forced to the theatre for this one. I hope It's better. I hated the first two, loved the old ones as a kid. I thought the first one was nothing special but okay. I don't think I have ever absolutely hated a movie so much as the second one. First of all -since when can r2d2 freaking fly? and the one liners, dear God the one liners. They were such awful, nudge nudge wink wink take my wife please type jokes- just exhausting. The thing about Lucas- I think punkrock said this too -is that he has interesting ideas, he's creative and a hell of a businessman, but he is a pretty bad director and an even worse writer. the concepts are fun, his execution is just so tedious. THe thing I hated the most about the second one I think was when they brought in a character (or even a theme) who shows up in the old trilogy there is this big pause like " Get it? it's the uncle who dies in the first movie! remember him? Uncle Owen! Here he is! Hang on, Boba Fett's here too. We'll show you him in a dramatic and annoying way later." And I laughed so hard when they made Yoda fight. It looked like someone flung a little green cat from offstage. This movie has a lot of making up to do. I think with it being inherently darker that will help though. I hope.
