Bettas and shallower water?

I started this thread because I saw reference to bettas being happier in shallow water. That thread was on another topic, but I wanted more info.

Doomhed referred to higher pressure tanks. This was my response:

Higher tank pressures? As in water pressure? Interesting. I have tried 3 times to have a betta sorority in my big tanks. Fail. So my girls in the 10 stand a better chance according to this theory. Do you think 10gs are good depth wise? OH, that gives me an idea of a half-filled 10 with plants that grow out of the water. Wisteria will do that, right? Anybody ever done that? OK, I'm gonna start a new thread so as not to hijack. Doomhed, please fill me in more there.

i believe the size of the tank doesnt matter (as long as its around 5+ gallons) its the depth of the water, it seems. so you can keep like 10 bettas in a 100 gallon, but youll need to lower the water level for them not to explode...
joking there obviously, but youll need to lower the water level around 18" or below.
