welcome to MFT! how big is your tank? so the tank is new and you put in new fishes too at the same time? so the adults are in which tank? and which tank are the babies in? usually with live bearers, you don't do much...feed them and watch them grow. next time though...you could this to...

i vote #3 with more option later on as the tank matures more to add in more glofish tetras to create a bigger school.

    Neon Tetras Spawning

wow! that's awesome. how big is the tank? would love to hear how you got them to spawn and what things you tried that work and didn't work. is there some kind of netting/divider you could rig up to separate them temporarily? i just think of those guppy breeding floating tanks but you can't...

    20 Gallon Long Tank Stocking

welcome to MFT! my personal preference is usually more of the same species instead of having alot of different kinds in a tank. and with a 20 gallon, it's a bit more limited so visually i think a school of the same kind of fish is cooler. so i would go with the 5 zebra danios instead. i...

    Filter problem

you need something like this over your intake. Filter Intake Sponge/Filter: http://amzn.to/1TwcWeS as Capslock mentioned...a fish that gets stuck onto a filter isn't doing well. in the meantime, you can try to find something to block the filter intake so the platy won't get sucked into it...

Help my neon tetra that had ick has now died

welcome to MFT! here's a few comments about your tank - cover your filter intake with a sponge not plants. the neon tetras were probably looking for a place to hide so naturally they'll go where the plant is..and unfortunately that's where the filter is hiding. - neon tetras won't die b/c...

    Can someone help me?

yea...test strips are easier to use but most of the time it's not very accurate. the API is a bit more involved but you'll get a better reading on the tank parameters. nothing comes easy in this hobby! :)

    Can someone help me?

ah okay. so new water, new filter and smartstart...i probably will still say it's a bit of a shock for your fishes to be moved to a new tank with new water and a new filter. there's nothing you can do i think right now but watch and see how he does. feed lightly too. maybe keep the lights off...

    Can someone help me?

okay. all new water...that's probably why your fish is acting stress. when you do water changes in your new tank, don't change out all the water. do like 20% of it so that way your fishes don't get shocked by the sudden water changes. it's good that you used Tetra Safe Start...

    Can someone help me?

hi there jill! - when you moved it to the 15 gallon, did you move the filter too? and some water? or was it completely new water and new filter? sounds like the fish might be in shocked by the move. are there any hiding places for them?

    OKAY!

cool! be interesting to see in a few months to see if the white sand will take over or the black sand..or you'll end up maybe with a cool mixture of both eventually. will you be cleaning the sand?

    Sick Pleco

hi there. welcome to mft! let's get started with a few more questions.. - when you said you recently cleaned the 40 gallon...was it a complete water change? and you completely cleaned the filters too? - can you take a picture? what color is the fungus? if you opt to medicate, you need to do...
