What is this plant....

Any ideas what this plant is? I got it on aquabid as part of a package. Never seen it before. After 1 day in my tank, it's starting to root very well, and fast. It was just a stem when I got it, no roots at all.

its either purple waffle or somehing like that its not a true aquatic plant ive had the same thing and it lasted for awhile and then started to die and rot.

LOL, things water changes do to trick yaa, lol. Nope, not pearling.....

Also, I think I found the plants name. I believe it's a Cardinal Temple -Alternanthera cardinalis, and yes, it is aquatic if it is.

I looked it up, the leaves on a purple waffle is much larger. These are very narrow. So I'm inclined to say Cardinal Temple.

It doesn't look like temple plant to me, but it could be you have the emersed form.

I believe it is, yes. Also, the leaves look pretty fragile, but they are not, lol. They are very, very stiff, and the edges pretty sharp. Can almost cut skin, lol. And when cutting, it's like trying to cut a twig.

Correction, a member on another site told me what it is. He has some himself......

It is supposed to be green on top and purple / red on the underside. it is called "Telenthera" or "Red Temple plant"
Scientific name (Alternathera reinekii v. "Rosaefolia")

I have trouble getting them to grow well, but mine has slowly grown over the last year or so. I am not sure why I have trouble with them as they should be easy
