no I haven't gotten any of my bettas yet (sadly), but I've been reading (a lot) and have read here and there that bettas should be scooped out with a cup rather than a net so you don't damage fins or scales... true or does it matter?

I've moved Bettas with the cup method and also my hand. both methods are supposed to be better than a net. If you insist on the net the use a brine shrimp net..

I almost always use my hands when catching bettas. Mine usually come up to me, begging for food, like my oscar does (and my blue gill when I had him).

I had one female betta that I could actually pet, she was so tame.

I've always (well, until recently when I got a nice soft fry/brine shrimp net) used a regular net and have never had a problem. However, if you've just gotten them and have finished acclimating them to the new tank water in their cup, I'd just pop the top of the cup off and lower the cup into the water. I do that with my newbies and they usually just swim right out into the tank.
