Livebearer Breeding tank

I have a ten gallon tank that I want to turn into a livebearer breeding tank. Are there any special things I should do to increase the chances of the fish breeding. All of the males have died when they were in my big tank now I have a pregnant female guppy, a female molly, a female platy, and 2 small kuhli loaches(not planning on breeding these) in my ten gallon. I have some artificial "breeding grass" in the tank. I hope to become successful with breeding livebearers and then move on to fish that lay eggs.

Stick a couple of guppies in there and you'll have plenty of babies!! lol
It's the pH you have to watch out for when it comes to breeding, make sure it is not too high or low.

I would advise you put Java moss or other fine-leaved plants in there. Not only does it give fry a great place to hide, but the plants also provide microorganisms for the fry to feed off.

I just stocked the tank with males of each fish and an additional female guppy. I also removed the loaches. I added some more breeding grass. I also found a tiny baby snail in the tank. I will keep him untill he gets too big. It turns out the guppy I bought was pregnant already so I am now expecting three batches of fry from my tank.

I will definitely keep everyone updated. I hope the fish have their fry soon. I might keep some of the fry and put them in my 43 gallon tank. I will most likely sell the fry to my LFS.

Cool! I was going to sell my three baby mollies on when they get bigger.. but i can't part with them, i actually want to see them grow up!! Isn't that, after all, one of the rewards of fish keeping? So, with consent or not, i'm going to get another 7.5 or so GAL tank for the three

YAY! I got fry! My guppies had some during the night. Currently I have saved 4 of them. I am sure that there are more in there.I will keep checking the tank for the fry. I hope that one of my guppies is not done releasing the fry. I cannot wait to find more!

YESSSS! I just caught two more fry. I will continue to search for more fry. I now have 6 fry.

Just remember the first few days are the most crucial, and without sounding like.. well scrooge (i dunno.. lol), theres a possibility not all of them will make it!! So keep a good eye on them, and find them small bits of food every so often

I have fed them twice since I found them. I know that you need to feed the fry often so they won't die. Also I am not expecting them all to live. One was not swimming too well when I caught him.

What fry food do you feed them? baby brineshrimp is good aswell as that special livebearer baby food that contains eggs yolk, if you do feed them that then id suggest you do more frequent water changes

I created a mixture of crushed food. I crushed five shrimp pellets 1 algae tablet and then crushed flake food. I wanted to give the fry something good to eat. I hope it will help them grow and be healthy and strong.

Update

The fry are all still alive and healthy. My mixture of food seems to be working. I feed them several times a day.

hardboil and egg and cut a little piece of it off. Then take part of the yolk and mix it with some water and shake it really hard for a couple minutes (until egg disolves) then strain the mixture through a strainer and put in a small container. use a dropper to feed your fry. thats what i do. it has lots of protein =)
