Here's a diagram of my DIY plant anchors. They are made by putting a thin layer of silicone sealant on a piece of oiled aluminum foil, then making half-circles with plant weights, which you put around the sealant. Then, add another layer of sealant around the edges on top of the weights. Once dry, cut a cross shape through the silicone area in the center. I cut out a strip, so the plant stems have a little more room. You could also cut out a circle in the center for plants with roots. It is better if you can make the center part of the silicone as thin as possible. Wash the oil off before putting in the tank!

You can put four or five stems in the one I made. You could also do them half size, with one plant weight.

The advantages of these weights are:

1. Stems aren't crushed like they are when you use the metal weights. The stems can grow, because the silicone is soft.

2. If you have fish that dig, they can't make your plants float away by digging.

3. You can move your stem/bunch plants around, or allow them to root.

4. They really hold the plants down well, and you can cover them with gravel.

Let me know what you think :)
