I know snails clean each other and ive witnessed it , but my mystery and trapdoor seem to be embraceing . How do these creatures reproduce? Is it possible to cross them ? Do they have a gender? Ive heard of live bearing snails , but i never bothered to research the snails i have . I have an awesome picture for when i get a proper setup to share . Thanks !

snails are hermaphrodites so they contain both sexes..I believe this embrace is actual mating occurring..probably the same thing you witnessed previously with "cleaning each other"

Thats what im thinkn . but according to the net both snails are nonherms. The trapdoor is livebearing and the mystery is an egglayer even though they are sposed to be n tha same family . Still possible though maybe? What you think?

I don't know about crossing, but when some snails mate they rub their foot all over the other's foot. Is that what you're seeing?

hmmm..I guess not every aquatic snail is a hermaphrodite...but it's probably still mating..when/if you see some snail babies you ll know for sure what happened
