I'm not sure why we're getting so much in the past few days, but thanks to those who have reported it.

If you see spam, click on the little triangle symbol next to the post -- under the user's name -- and fill out the form. The mail goes to all the mods, and one of us will delete it as soon as we can.

I hope we'll be spam-free soon!

thanks for reporting. i changed the way the registration worked. before it would ask a question but changed it to captcha which creates random words they need to type in but that seemed to make it worse. i'll switch it back to questions and answers to slow down this spam stuff we're getting.

but thanks to everyone for reporting and to the mods for helping me take care of this.

checking the newest registrations, it seems to have stopped some as some are just obvious spam accounts but can't post b/c they are awaiting email confirmation. some still get through tho. thanks for continuing to report it.

there will be an update on the forum tonight so let's see if that can plug up some of the holes these spammers are finding.

added some extra security measures. see if that stops it....one is that it detects possible spam posts and doesn't display it on the forum until a moderator approves of it. at least this way it might stop them from showing up publicly. have a few more that i can implement that i'm looking at. just to keep you updated.

just reported spam with porn on it. i'm a 26 year old guy and to me personally it's not a big deal but knowing that there are some young people on this site from time to time it does kinda bother me. there has got to be some way to stop this spam. i hate to say it but maybe some kinda way to personally screen every person that tries to join. be it an email thing where an administrator or whoever is in control of this stuff sends a person an email with a question and unless they replay with the correct answer they get rejected. most of the spam is harmless but thats just going to far. there has to be a better system of some kind.

thanks for the feedback. the latest protection we've done has been to send threads/posts to a pending state until a me or a moderator can look it over. it's been pretty good at stopping them from showing up - the spam hasn't really decreased but majority has been automatically set to pending so hence you guys can't see it. these random ones somehow get by but i have another level of protection to try later tonight to see if that can stop these spam bots.
