Temperature Controllers - UK

Hey all,

For years I had been plagued by innacurate thermostats on aquarium heaters.

About 18 months ago I decided enough was enough so I built my own control unit, rendering the built in stat redundant.

Here is one of my units, currently in use on my Roma 240:

You will notice there are two displays. The top line shows the actual temperature of the water, accurate to 0.05%. The bottom line is the setpoint value, in this case 25 degrees celcius.

You will also notice, in the middle of the picture, the PT100 probe which is the temperature sensor for the controller. These are made from food grade stainless steel sheathing with the sensor wires inside and resin sealed at the top so they are completely waterproof.

This particular controller has two 200w heaters fitted but I can fit any combination up to a maximum of 2500w.

I have found this setup to be 100% reliable and it is so easy to alter the setpoint.

If anyone would like me to build one of these, I am more than happy to do so for the parts cost and a bit for postage. I'm making this offer to forum members only. Please PM me if you are interested.
