I recently added a layer of sand substrate on top of black pebble for my cichlids, plus it looks really sharp. Before I did I noticed a sprout popping up next to an anubias plant. I figured the sprout was part of the anubias root system. So as I added the sand I resecured all of my plants and found this new sprout was actually a bulb or tuber of some sort. Now about 2 months ago I bought this tank used, so I figured this was a left over plant from the previous owner. Anyway it had been about four days since the new sand was added and that sprout is growing about half an inch a day. It actually has two stems now! I think it must be some sort of aquatic perrenial that reactivates in the spring... makes sense right? But the question is "what is it?"
