protein skimmer

Is there any way to hang a protein skimmer on the back of the tank if it has a canopy on it.My problem is its to close to the back of the tank and I cant put the canopy up.I didnt know if there was a way to extend the skimmer back away from the tank.I dont like using it with another tank underneath the shelf thats why I want to try hanging it onto the tank

Depends, what type of canopy?
How much space is behind the tank?
What type (and "foot print") of skimmer?

Kinda tough to tell for sure *how* you would do it, but the only thing I can think of is cutting out a section large enough to allow the skimmer to have clearance.

So that is hinged so it piviots down? Or am I missing something?

I wouldn't mess too much with the Coralife... it can be tempermental from my understanding... Running stock or with tried and tested mods is all I would recommend.
