I have a penguin 330 filter and I am getting a slight backflow right by the intake tube. This usually happens when my cartridges get gunked up, but this time it occured with brand new cartridges. I tried rinsing them the next day, but it still does it.

Yea i was wondering about that too. I havent even had my filter cartridge for a month and it gets backflow. I clean the cartridge and its fine for about an hour and then it starts up again. What gives?

Definitely check out the intake tube of the filter. I've noticed that they tend to get gunked up with, well, gunk, and they need to be cleaned out. The best way is with a pipe cleaner to physically remove all that brown gunk. If you don't have one handy, you can use bleach water, while rinsing it out really well afterwards. If that fails, take it all apart! Make sure the impeller assembly is nice and clean and functioning properly, then check the pathways the water follows. This should correct any problems. Hope this helps! :)
