I just got a 30 gal for my birthday  :D I was planning on putting 2 pseudotropheous zebra,2 pseudotropheous esterae,2 Melanochromis johanni, and 2 labidochromis caerules. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Too many. That's just too many fish. Those fish need something bigger than that like 55 gallons or something. I would go with about 4 or 5 convict cichlids. They are extremely easy to breed and great fish. They can live in a smaller tank like yours and they will thrive in it. They need a rocky habitat and preferably some caves. HTH. ;D

Actually fishboy, I would go with groups of four, one male and three females.  Leave out the Labidochromis caerules, they won't survive in this tank.  12 fish is perfect for a 30 g african tank, IMO.

Your so lucky! ;D I'm gonna get some discus sometime. Right now I don't have the time or the money to get any. Someday I will. Maybe this summer when I get a bigger tank. ;D
