Need some feedback

 I have in the past,
                advocated adding ammonia daily  however, as I have been developing this process for my self, I have noted
                that there is no need to add any ammonia until the ammonia drops to zero. As long as the bacteria have
                something to feed on, they will not suffer.  

What is every ones opinion on this comment?  Ive still got ammonia at 6.0 ppm before my daily ammonia addition. Keep adding? no nitrates yet.

May 15, 2001- setup filter and heater, Temp 84

May 16, 2001- PH 7.6 added 30 drops of ammonia, test for ammonia at 0ppm

May17, 2001- added 30 drops of ammonia, 12 tsp of bacteria starter, ammonia at 0ppm

May18, 2001- added two capfuls of ammonia, ammonia at 7.0ppm

May19, 2001- cut back ammonia to 30 drops, Ammonia at 6.0 ppm, no nitrites yet.

May20, 2001-added 30 drops ammonia, tested at 6.0ppm , no nitrites

May21, 2001-added 30 drops ammonia, tested at6.0ppm, no nitrites

I think you should continue to add ammonia at normal doses, Until the nitites spike. Then 1/2 when you get nitites, to continue to feed the bacteria at the higher levels. The higher your levels, the more fish you can start off with.

I agree with ruby barb- until the nitrites spike and then dissipate you will not be done cycling.
