About 4 weeks ago, one of my female swordtails gave birth. All but one of the fry were eaten. The lone survivor is doing well. About 1" long now. But I digress.
Today, during feeding, I noticed that there was a new fry in the tank that I hadn't seen before. He's very tiny (about half of my pinky nail), and completely clear (both possible mother and father are marigold). Problem is, I have no idea where it came from.
The female that I knew was pregnant hasn't looked pregnant for the past month. The other female in the tank hasn't looked pregnant either.
I know that females can store up sperm and use it later, but can females hold a few fry and give birth to them about a month later?
