Hi, my female platy is having I think an infection under the belly. It's kind of her inside coming out. What happen is that I put FloraPride fertilizer for the plant yesterday and I found her today sick! Please tell me what to do and how to treat her? Also I added some aquarium salt! 2011-11-26 16-45-53.490.jpg 2011-11-26 16-45-57.150.jpg 2011-11-26 16-46-13.132.jpg 2011-11-26 16-46-48.226.jpg

Two days didn't cause your fish to die, heck !! Your fish has been ill. No fault of anybodies here. With advanced notice we could have helped for sure but, not when its this far a long. Also some of us veterans fish keepers do not get one here everyday.

lol I didn't blame anyone, thanks for your responses. I just wanted to know what is that thing? Is it an infection? I don't want that to happen again to my other platies!

mrl00l - If you feel that the fertilizer hurt your fish, you might want to contact the manufacturer. I'd find it hard to believe that it was FloraPride's fault though. If something poisoned that platy, it would likely affect more than just one specific fish.

OrangeCones thanks for reply, I'm really clueless. FloraPride is an Iron fertilizer and I don't know if Iron is bad for fish. I thought someone might be able to ttthe problem from the pictures.

I don't use that brand, but my tanks have always had iron supplements if needed (especially for the red leafed plants). I've kept shrimp only, egg scatterers (rasbora sp., Dario dario), Otocinclus sp. and Badis sp. They've all lived, bred, and thrived in tanks with iron added 2x a week and other ferts on 4 other days a week. *shrug*
