I'd recommed Seachem Stability over Algone for helping with the cycle. You'll still need to be checking ammonia, but it should help. Don't worry too much about the cloudiness, as long as the ammonia and nitrites are below 1ppm.
I have the Mardel pH and Ammonia level in the aquarium at all times for constant Ammonia check and I check twice a day the Nitrate and Nitrite levels. Both are at zero still - I have no live plants, fed the fish only a bit, and I only have one tinny goldfish in a 36 gallon tank so - I suppose that's to be expected

I use the... I think it's seachem live ammonia tester too. Just the Ammonia thing though. It's little bitty. My angels like to play with it...
