Lettuce in Water

Is it for the infusoria Ray?  That is the only thing I can think of, that as the lettuce leaf starts to rot it produces infusoria that is good for feeding very small fry.  I don't know how to transfer the infusoria to the fry, just that you are supposed to make sure you don't transfer any of the rotting material with the infusoria.

I use this for betta fry. Put a Peice of lettuce in a jar of water and set it in the window (for sunlight). Then when the water is murky take a eyedropper or syringe and remove them and inject into your tank. :)
