The other day at home depot i notice these "Plant lights" They are like $15 each are supposed to be attached to the wall with a small base. They were 75 watt bulbs. I am not sure what "color" or lux they were but that would be a cheap alternative right?

2 of those babies would be a lot of light to add.

I wonder how they would work. Replacement bulbs were like $7 !!

I would think mount them to something so they are lifted off the aquarium glass hood a few inches.They swivel from the base for easy adjustment as well. I love Home depot!!!

Probebly want to mix it with a standard sunlight GE bulb as well.

Any thought or ideas comments on this??

When I started in this hobby (1968)I used nothing but incandescent lighting, my plants always grew well and with little algae.
I currently use low voltage Dichroic spotlights mixed with fluorescent, this gives a good effect as you can pick out a feature in your tank and hilight it, for the cost involved give it a try.
Just be careful not to splash water on them when hot. 8)[glow=color,strength,width]BANG![/glow]
