If you have not fixed it yet, it should go away if you don't scrub surfaces. The stuff (periphyton) on the surfaces absorbs nutrients, and the more it absorbs, the less nutrients will be in the water to feed the green.

Yet another trick is to get a plastic sheet to stick down into the gravel, so you can remove the gravel on one side of it, and replace with new, without mixing with the rest of the gravel. Then in a week, do another section.
