Columbian Shark

Also known as the Black Fin Shark, the Columbian Shark is a catfish which will grow quite large in an aquarium. It may also be referred to as Jordan's Catfish or the West American Cat Shark. The Columbian Shark has a high fin and long "whiskers" that gives it a classic catfish appearance.
Setting up a tank to match its natural environment will require plenty of plants and rocks. Since it grows quite large, starting with a minimum tank size of 70 gallons is recommended. As the Columbian Shark grows larger, there is a chance that the shark will eat smaller tank mates. This species prefers some aquarium salt in the water, and may also be acclimated slowly into a saltwater aquarium, as they live in both freshwater and saltwater during different times of their life.
The female Columbian Shark will lay the eggs and the male will incubate them in his mouth to protect them.
Feed this fish sinking catfish pellets, bloodworms, or a high quality algae food.

I recently purchased 2 of these fish for my 75 gallon freshwater tank. They are very beautiful fish. Unfortunately they both died with in the week. I got 2 pictus cats at the same time and they are doing great. I figure I did’t have the water salty enough for them, although every thing I read says as youngins they should have been ok in freshwater. I would buy again but only if I set up a brackish to saltwater tank
Well I have one right now I didn’t no at the time to get 3 or more pluse I only have a 29 gal at the moment just upgraded from a 10 and I have one of these beautiful sharks along with 7 tiger barbs 1 upside down cat fish witch is also cool 1rainbow fishy 1 pleco and a tire track eel and 2 gourami’s they are all babies right now and are very peacefull they have pretty salty water not to much because of the other fish I plan on upgrading to a bigger tank once the shark becomes to large but for the most part hes well she is awesome she does alright with fish flakes but loves bloodworms and her fav is earthworms witch I’m not going to go by I get thoughs from my back yard lol but she is only 2 in. And she eats a full worm well it hangs out of her mouth for about 10 mins till she can gobble the rest witch the worms are really for the eel witch is also very small but the shark likes to steal his worms. I have named my shark bubbles for the simple reason he loves to swim agents them she grows pretty fast I had her for about 3 weeks and gas grown about 2/4 of an in. The tank is well planted and has wood hiding spots rocks caves but she doesn’t care for none of that much she likes to stay out in the open or up to the top I also have gost shrimp and feeding guppies witch she will snag here and there. But all together this black fin shark catfish also called Colombian catfish/shark,jordans catfish and a few other names is an all around fish it’s awesome and makes ur tank look great I plan on getting 2 more but that’s for a bigger tank hope u enjoyed………<3 kimber
