Not Your Typical Fish Tank Anymore
A few days ago, I came across this article in the LA Times that focused on the growing trend of aquascaping your aquarium. Ofcourse they mentioned Takashi Amano (to which I have a fond connection toward). It’s a really interesting article that you should read if you have the chance.
It focuses on a store in San Francisco called Aqua Forest Aquarium and how the owners (George & Steven Lo) have found a special niche by creating natural replicas of miniature underwater worlds. Some of the creations are just amazing....

As Seen On: Freshwater Aquarium Problem Solver
I received an email from a new member today (Brenda B) about how she found MyFishTank.Net through a book she found at her LFS. A book? I didn’t know MFT was in any book. So I asked her for more information and she told me it was this book by David E. Boruchowitz called Freshwater Aquarium Problem Solver. So I looked around and found it on Amazon.
Freshwater Aquarium Problem Solver
Use this as your troubleshooting companion to address a range of both common and infrequent freshwater aquarium needs, from keeping the...

Kuroshio Sea – One Big Fish Tank
I love aquariums and this one I will have to visit next time I’m in Japan. It’s located in the Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa, Japan. It’s so big that they call this aquarium/tank the Kuroshio Sea.
How Big? How about FOUR whale sharks. FOUR!!!! Not only just whale sharks, there’s a lot of other types of fish such as manta rays, tunas that total about 80 species combined. Amazing. To add to the amazement, only 3 tanks in the world are able to hold whale sharks and this one can hold 4.
The thing I like...

Jellyfish Crop Circle
The best crop circle I’ve seen! Usually they’re weird shapes and this time, the latest crop circle looks like a jellyfish! It’s about 660ft and it’s near Coombes, Oxfordshire..where a lot of other crop circles have turned up. Most crop circles are smaller than this one so this makes it pretty impressive. What do you think? Done by people with computers and volunteers? Or by jellyfish like aliens? Read More →

The migration patterns of basking sharks have long mystified marine biologists, but new research has finally revealed where the world’s second-biggest fish hide out for half of every year…..Using new satellite-tagging and a new geo-location technique, the researchers found that basking sharks make long migrations through tropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean during the winter, traveling at depths of 200 to 1,000 meters....

A World With No Pets….
Received an important email today from our sponsor ThatFishPlace that I thought I would share with you all. Here’s what it says…
Attention Pet Owners
What would the world be like without pets? A new bill proposed in the House could make this a reality. All pet owners should be aware of a pending federal government resolution. House Resolution 669 is designed to change the way the government classifies animals available in the pet trade. If passed into law it will severely impact keeping pets in America and could...

For 50 years boffins have been baffled as to how the strange looking fish coped with eyes giving it tunnel vision of whatever was directly above its head. But now they know the Barreleye Fish (or Macropinna microstoma, if you want to get all technical) can rotate its odd eyes within a transparent...
