Ms. Goldfish

goldfish-clown.jpg

I noticed unfortunately that I was missing a goldfish at the office. Because I needed a certain number of goldfishes as per my previous post about Feng Shui for Your Aquarium, I went to my LFS today to get one. While I was there browsing, I noticed this really interesting goldfish that I couldn’t pass up. I hope that because it’s not completely “gold” it won’t be that bad. But it looks like it’s got lipstick and mascara or eyeliner (not sure what it’s called haha). pretty interesting huh?

Since I’m on the topic of goldfish, my black goldfish (moor) is turning colors. It used to have a completely black body but now the body area is fading and no longer black. I also had another golden goldfish that turned completely white. How strange…anyone know why?

the golfish will turn colors depending on the setting you have them in. if you put a goldfish in a dark room with a red light used for photography it turns a funny color – can’t remember what though. if the goldfish is left in a darker room it will turn white i think. we talked about this stuff in bio last year and i can’t remember certainly, so none of this is for sure. someone correct me if i’m wrong

oh ic. thanks for the info. i have 2 types of goldfish. One is the oranda and the other one is the one with the big eyes. I feed it oranda food and the big eyed ones are the only ones that are changing color (ie. one is now completely white and the black one is half black now). i wonder if that makes a difference. I didn’t know lighting also plays a part.

Moors and other goldies for that matter just do this as they age. I’ve seen moors turn copper after 2 or 3 yrs.

It doesn’t look like it, but beware of fish that look like they have lipstick as this is now a fad with tattooing. Yours look like a natural pattern

serious..tattoing a fish? dang. well..it seems to be natural as it’s got different weird color spots everywhere. it seems right now to have eaten too many floating food pebbles so it floats to the top.

I don’t know anything about goldfish changing color, but I did want to say that your goldfish kind of looks like it’s wearing a bonnet (naturally, not like a growth or anything) along with the “lipstick” and “eyeliner” helping it to look more like “Mrs. Goldfish.”

I also have (had) a fancy tail black “big eye” gold fish – he has been turning orange this past month. Now I would say he is half black now. I had no idea they could turn colors. We have 8 fish in our koi pond – 4 are gold fish and 4 are koi. The only one to change colors is my black guy… I liked him all black 🙁 oh well.

Hey, yeah black moors tend to change colour, usually to orange as they get older. I’d say about 15% of fish do and it isn’t uncommen, personally I think it’s pretty kl =] Enjoy your fish, looks very funky lol

I have one of those big eye’d gold fish & he is gold… Or was, but about a month ago he got a little brown spot on his head, and now the whole top half of his body is brown & he’s swimming with his head on the ground and can’t seem to swim up when I feed him..he’s dying & idk why, bc my friend had the same exact fish from the same place (petco) and the same thing happend to hers.. why did he die?

Hi.

I used to have a fish tank in my house. Since I moved and my wife cracked the fish tank by mistake I didn’t have a chance to buy another one. I am thinking about getting another one. Someone told me that having a fish tank in one’s house will bring bad luck. Is that true?

Thanks.
