In the past have had numerous bettas, all of them making wonderful pets with their calm mood and brilliant colors.

Pros: They can be kept in small aquariums, they are easy to care for and little maintenance, are extremely fascinating to watch

Cons: They only live for 4 years normally 🙁

I’ve had many, many fighting fish over the years. Spite what pet shops tell you, they do need heaters and tanks at least 5 litres. They cannot fight constantly, or it stresses them out! Ten minutes a day keeps their fins healthy.

They like the PH of the water to be soft to medium.

I’ve had male fighting fish in with other fish, only to find they either cannot handle the strength of the filter or my other fish being picked on – example, Guppies.

They are wonderful fish, though I think they should be housed alone with a apple snail as a friend and a water plant and heater. I’ve found these couple of tricks have prolonged the life to my Bettas.
