Compressiceps Cichlid

The Compressiceps Cichlid (Dimidiochromis compressiceps/Haplochromis compressiceps) is from the waters of Lake Malawi. What makes this cichlid unique is that it tends to eat its prey tail first. It has also been observed biting the eyes out of other fish prior to devouring them.
The Compressiceps cichlid requires a larger than than most normal cichlids. You should consider at least a 70 gallon tank and unlike most cichlid tanks, it should be densely planted along the perimeter of the tank. You can use reedy plants such as Vallisneria. Provide plenty of hiding places too with rocks and driftwood.
