If my eyes dont decieve me:i believe its a ramshorn.

That species of snail wont multiply like in other species of snails like the regarded cosmopolitan snail.Harmless to the aquarium,but if kept with certain species of cichlids:they will infact eat the little guy.

Oh I know, I've had these type of snails before, just never knew what they were called. Sadly my loaches and tetras eat all the babies, I'll have to quaranteen them somehow if I want more. They don't need a heater do they?? could I put them in a 2gallon plastic tank 'till they get big enough?

yeah sure!
If i were you though, I'd think them loaches are a blessing in keeping unwanted pond trapdoor snails out of my tank :p
one big one is enough for me lol
