what happened

well i came home from college and our black looking comet changed to a wierd gold color my parents have been taking care of the fish i was just wondering why this happened any ideas is this normal or does it have something to do with the food that suposedly makes the fish brighter. or could it be just natural as he/she matures?

Black is very unstable in goldfish. It isn't at all unusual for goldfish to turn colors, especially from black to gold or other lighter colors especially if the fish are kept indoors.

When I got my first comet it was black and in a matter of a few months it turned to gold, been yellowish-gold ever since(4 yrs old in June)
