Okay I just started my first saltwater tank 3 days now yee haaa finally got tired of freshwater anyhow here is what I am triing to understand:::::::::::::

I know what a protein skimmer does I am not sure if it is doing its job,  I have the SEACLONE PROTEIN SKIMMER they only thing is, is that I do see bubbles but nothing is going into the little thing on top that collects all the stuff.  I have seen aalot of protein skimmers that seem to have tons of bubbles in them and the little container on top seems to have a nice looking foam. I dont have anything in mine.  Please bare with me this is my first.  Thanks in advance.

For a skimmer to work there has to be something to skim... theres nothing in a three day old tank, and a skimmer now will just slow down the cycle...

Hehe, what do you have in your tank that needs skimming?  Live rock?  and fish?

Well anyways, some skimmers might also need a few days or even a week before they get primed to skim well.  That is to create a slime for organics to easily go up the skimmer neck.

With the seaclone tried this:
