yeh i dont know how many lbs of LR ill put in, whatever looks good (that was just a bad guesstimation).

i thought the same about the black sand, but it should really set off the colors in the mantis shrimp and make it stand out a bit more. Its also supposed to help the mantis become a lot more colorful (they tend to dull if in a really bright environment without dark shelter)

update

Ive put in an order for an acrylic cube from glasscages.com. I am unsure of whether ill cycle it while im away for Xmas break. A freind lives within the neighborhood of my college, so i might ask him to watch over it (take care of creep and whatnot) while it cycles.

Ive decided to get about 5lbs of LR, pacific most likely. Ill go with another 10lbs or so of base rock and hopefully the LR will spread soon enough. Ill probably look into some corals like mushrooms and GSPs, nothing too serious. Ill take some pics once i get the cube

uhmmmm

i kinda randomly spent $300 on a radar detector, so the whole buying process might be slightly delayed. Knowing me, it wont be too much longer though. Im heading down to my lfs this weekend to place an order for a mantis, ill probably buy some playsand or something while im out.

I can take a pic of the sand bag if you guys want :p

witness all that is awesome:

You guys think i should start a journal of my nano setup in the nano section?

At any rate you guys want it, so i got it:
(just nod your head and smile camaro, just nod and smile)

thats about 8lbs of Lace rock, which will be followed with about another 8lbs of LR (fiji, as my lfs doesnt carry pacific). Maybe a pound or two of Branch LR just for looks.

does anyone have any ideas about coral (besides mushrooms i suppose)?

this is, give or take, the type of tank i will be getting

nodding and smiling ;)

as far as other corals, you could go with some zoanthids, ricordia, xenia, or many of the leather corals...not too much else will do really well under PC lighting...sun polyps, i suppose, are also an option because they are not photosynthetic
