hi guys,

i have an eclipse1 that has two bulbs (2x18watts) in a 10gallon. that's a total of 3.6watt/gallon. the majority of plants in the tank are microswords.

i took one of the bulbs out cause i think i had too much light and it causing a mad algae growth.

my question:

- so by removing a bulb, will it affect my lighting system? like...by having an empty socket now, will that affect my system (burning it out etc)?

hope that was clear! heh.

I almost bought a 29-Gallon Eclipse system, but im pretty sure that taking the light bulb out wont affect the system too much. One thing I do know about though, is that if your having an algae growth problem, you might consider buying a timer for your light, and just have the timer turn the light on at certain points in the day, for about an hour or two at a time. My problem was gone in 1 week when I did that.
