Plant ID please

Ive recently redid my 5.5 gallon with plants and my friend gave them to me but he didnt know what they were and neither do i. Can someone tell me what they are?

Gave them to a friend from school who had a 55 gallon and wanted some.

It looks like Anarchis (cant spell it) to me. What do you guys think?

If you mean Anacharis, no, it is not that plant.

Might be Hygrophila polysperma. It doesn't look very healthy, sadly.

Well i do have 6 pond snails in there with it and i found 3 clumps of eggs in 3 different plants haha. Is there any fish that likes to eat young snails besides puffers?

Not for a 5 gallon tank that I know of.

Snails can't reproduce if you don't feed them. If the plants are decaying, they will eat the plants.

Since you don't have anything else in the tank you can kill the snails with coppersafe or some other product with copper, like and algae killer.

I'm going to guess you need more light and more ferts for the plant, but that's just a guess.

I started them out with 2 shrimp pellets under them each as fert. Once i get my fish i think they'l be better and im getting them this weekend.

Do you have CO2 running on the tank? That could play a part in the health of the plants...

I brought them home, trimmed the roots evenly, then i put 2 shrimp pellets up againts the root union underneath and planted them. I figured that would give them nutrients maybe?

Sounds like a good idea, but I haven't ever heard of using shrimp pellets either. I've heard of rodent poop. If it is a hygrophilla, I belive they are not very heavy root feeders, so it might not be necisary. Its definately not ancharis though, I can tell you that much! Actually, ignore what I asked before, because it is a new plant so it's probably still adjusting so health probably isn't a huge problem at this point.
