So I fed my pirahannas yesterday and today I go and see the biggest one has an eye missing.

I guess my questions is? Is this a common thing?
I have 3 pirahannas, had them for 5 months now and there has been no problem what so ever, I feed them on a regular basis, (blood worms, shrimp, and feeder fish). They have never been overly aggressive anymore than regular, and I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. And what I can do to try to save the pirahanna with one eye?

Thanks

The eye was probably lost due to a fright response. If they are mature i don't think it was from an intentional attack. Accidents happen, imagine what it would be like if everyone was built like edward scicerhands, thats what life in the Pir tank would be like. As for the survival of the one eyed fish, he should be able to adapt just fine, but you may want to add some antibacterial to the tank to speed the healing process.(I use melafix)
