i just tested the water and the pH is 7.4 and ammonia is 0 and the tank has been running for over a week already with the fish in it (let the tank cycle for 3 days)

FYI A fish tank takes a month to cycle without fish. With fish it can take much longer. Missfishy is right about Nutrafin. When doing a FISH-IN Cycle, there is no need for addatives. The only thing you need to add is dechlorinator to the water before making water changes to the tank. Any other chemicals will just complicate your situation.

I would get a drop test kit. If you are using test strips, they are highly inaccurate.
