Mouth rot on oscar!?

My oscar got mouth rot and his lips came off, I gave him meds and I was wondering how long will it take for his mouth to heal back up??? He is 6in.

i dont think they will growback if the disease carries on in the tank, but if he cures the disease they should grow back.

you are treating the disease but not the problem...

what size tank is he in?

what are your ammonia, nitrites, nitrates?

fungal problems are usually the result of poor water quality and/or recently introduced fish being the vector....or BOTH in a lot of cases.

how many water changes are you doing?

i would hate to see you treat this problem only to have it happen again.

-He is in a 55g right now
-I do water changes once a week
-I gave him the meds and it told me how long it would take for it to work but i dont know how long it will take for his lips to get better!
-I did just put a new fish in there before the mouth rot but the new fish was fine!!
