How would I be able to tell if a used stand I purchased is made to hold two tanks? As in, one on the bottom and one on top. I have a metal stand that appears as though it would hold a 55 gallon on the bottom. I'll try and get a picture soon.

The metal, double tank stands that I am familiar with will have identical top/bottom platforms, intended for two tanks. Search Titan EZE metal stands. Is this what you have? I have the Titan EZE 75/90g stand. Have a 75g on top and a 55g on the bottom. I added a piece of plywood on the bottom to occommodate the narrower 55.

I went and looked it up, and saw them on Dr.Fosterandsmith's site. They don't show what the 55g one would look like. It's always hard to be sure on google images. I finally got around to getting some pictures. Maybe they will help.

EDIT: Also, I just noticed that the back legs curve around so that if there was a tank on the bottom, the back legs wouldn't interfere with it. It wouldn't matter if it was a single tank stand what kind of legs were on it, but now I'm wondering if that's why the back legs are designed the way they are.

Generally, if the top/bottom trays are the same, it's a double stand. I know my 75g Titan EZE doesn't look or feel like the most substantial stand, but it actually feels more stable with two tanks on it. Originally I had a 75g on top and nothing on the bottom.
