I am a biologist working with these animals for research purposes. You can find more information at Marmorkrebs.org: Advancing research on marbled crayfish (of which I am the proprietor) and links within, particularly the blog.

Very little is known about this species. We know nothing about where marbled crayfish originated, or whether any populations even exist in the wild. If you are thinking about keeping these as pets, please take the utmost care that ensure none enter local waters. They have the potential to be a terrible pest species.

They are somewhat trickier to keep and rear than it first appears.
