my leopard buffer fick are getting dark spots on there bellies like bruising what would be he cause of this?

What sized aquarium?
Readings for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?
Tankmates?
How long has the tank been established?
How long have you had the puffer?

Do you mean Green Spotted Puffer? Answer the questions above. Often times, especially when they are younger, a dark belly means they are stressed. They have a stress line that lines that area. A very white belly is a good sign.
