Identity of algae eater?

#1
I went to my favorite lfs yesterday to get some otos and saw a strange looking fish in one of their show tanks. It was in some african cichlids in a very nice tall eclipse tank. At first I thought it was a common pleco because of it's brown coloration. But after closer inspection I realized it had the body shape of algae eaters in the cyprinid family. It had a darker mottled stripe on it's sides like CAEs. Could this be a specially bred color morph like golden CAEs? It was so fat and cute! I wanted to take it home with me. ;D

Could be a synodontis multipunctatus - but they don't really resemble Plecos or other Loricaridae species.
