My red cap lionhead is about 3 years old. My fish went upside down and could not swim upright or towards the bottom at all and it's stomach area was huge. I have taken my fish to a vet who fixed it's swim bladder that was the problem, but now the fish is going upside down again but he is able to swim upright for a short time but it seems difficult for the fish to do this. It seems like his wen (the large red cap on his head) is making him unbalanced also it covers most of his eyes. I have read somewhere that the wen can be trimmed. I want to be sure if this is possible I DO NOT want to hurt my fish I just want to help my fish because it is struggling to swim normal.

It's not his wen, it's his swim bladder which is causing his swimming problem. Have you tried feeding him peas? The wen can be trimmed but only by someone trained how to do it properly.
