I'm just curious about PH. People are telling me that PH doesn't matter so much as stability of PH. I've read that GF need 7+ PH and Alkaline waters. What happens if you keep GF in soft, low PH water (ph 6)?
Low pH Acidic conditions result with a low pH, and can be caused by an excess of fish waste in the tank water. Acidic water can weaken your fish. A goldfish in an acidic tank will display some of the following symptoms.
isolation, fish resting on the bottom of tank
blood streaking in the fins
Alkaline conditions occur when the pH is too high. When the pH level are high ammonia can become more toxic. A goldfish in an alkaline tank will display some of the following symptoms.
like anshu basically said, Its advisable to keep goldfish in a pH of 7 or above. they will be healthiest that way.
If your water has a pH thats lower, but is stable, then you should just go with another fish species...
