Gar and oscar

for my 50 gal tank would it be alright to have an oscar and a gar in the same tank or is the oscar way too aggresive for my gar?

and are oscars very territorial?
or are they some what mellow

oscars will eat (or at least try to eat) any fish that will fit in their mouths...i dont think a gar would get eaten by an oscar but i wouldnt keep them together...50 gallons is a little small for an oscar so id just keep the oscar alone. i know nothing about gars, but from what ive heard theyre pretty agressive.
