Peaceful with other fish but can be aggressive to each other, best kept in schools of 6 or more. They are a schooling species of catfish by nature, and tend to fight amongst themselves. They will not kill each other it's more of a rough housing type of fighting.
These fish are a great addition for a cleaning crew for larger aquarium fish like South American/Central American Cichlid species.normally reach 6"-8" so they deffinately need a large aquarium.

Great choice on catfish,i may add.I use to own one years ago.I found mine to be pretty short tempered and calm with the tankmates i had with him at the time(breeding pair of convicts,One female Red terror). Then again as an adult:he only came out at night for feedings) He was in a 55 aswell and grew to 10" before he died.Had "One eyed Willy" for 7 years.

-for some mysterious reason:when he hatched,he only had one eye.Still lived to be a healthy fish though.Minor his handicap.*thumbsup2

Thanks for bringing back good memories.
