dropped light in tank after I removed last fish -- fried ballast

total accident, should have been more careful but eh, damage is done (fried ballast). I need to find a replacement ballast model number "IG13-20EL" if anyone knows where I could get one, if not, any idea where I could buy just the lighting assembly, not a full hood (IE tank topper + feeding door) for a 20gal tall?

I think most of us has either came close, or done it.

You might check with the manufacture to see if they offer a replacement ballast. If not, you should be able to pick up just the light strip at a LFS or online supplier.

I just broke my ballast when the lamp broke. Nobody really sells the ballast itself so I had to get a whole new fixture. I got the new one from Amazon for about $40. It was a 23-24in. I think and it came with the light bulb and a whole new lid. It's for my 20g. I think you should go with that. I didn't want a lid either but this is all my dad found.

If by the ballast you are referring to the starter (small cylinder) they are available at most hardware stores and some aquarium supply places.

I've been lucky...I dropped my entire 29g hood in the tank...good thing it wasnt plugged in yet.
