I made a gravel vac this weekend. I cut a 9' pvc tube, 2' in diameter, with a 45 degree angle at the end. I traced the flat end onto a piece from a piece of sheet plastic, cut it and glued it on. Then I put a hole in the sheet just large enough for a section of hose, and glued the hose on. Unfortunately, the hose was too wide, or it could havebeen the pvc not being wide enough. Either way, it sucked up gravel readily, so I had to put my thumb over the end of the hose to control flow.
