Crud

I was wondering if there is a way to help break up, or clean up, the crud that is excreated by my oscar's? I can't keep doing water changes every 3-4 days just so i can vacume up the gravel. And another thing, is there an algea-eater that is safe to put in a tank with 4 oscar's? I'v noticed that my glass is starting to get some film on it.

What size tank is it? It sounds to me like you have a problem with overcrowding. What kind of filter are you using?

i've got a 29g with 4 young oscars. in a month i'm getting a 75g. i didn't think their would be any over crowding. any other ideas?

oscars are very messy...its kind of the sacrifice you make for keeping them...perhaps it is overfeeding, plecos can be kept with oscars...but in their old age they dont do much for your algae control

in a month i'm getting a 75g

...and in a year you'll need 150g, and then maybe 200g would be good for 4 or 5 adult O's. I hear that Rhino plecs are well suited, get one whilst they're all small and let them grow up together.
