Just wondering if anyone has observed this behavior in Clown Knifefish before. I'll explain. I first noticed her doing it at about 2 years of age (she's 5 yers old now). She usually eats feeder goldfish but occasionally likes carnivore pellets. Every time I drop the pellets into the tank she'll immediately go over to them and 'rub' her.....looks like her egg tube....over the pellets. She does it every time and sometimes more than once.
I'm sure she's a female because she's dropped eggs twice.
Is she marking her food?
With what?
Is she secreting something?
Is this normal behavior?
Also, is it normal for a Clown Knife to drop eggs with no male in the tank?
