I think I saw this earlier, but wanted to ask anyway. I have a beautiful red betta (Nash) who I have in a 1.5 gallon desk tank at my office. The tank came with a small hawkeye air pump and a tube to put the stone in to help the pump circulate the air. My question is,

Will Nash like that? Or do bettas like the water to remain calm?

My advice is to take the pump out. Bettas like the water calm. The less water disturbances you have, the better. This is because they breathe surface air and the little bubbles might bug them, it also pushes them around a too much. Bettas also don't need an air pump. They are adapted to extremely low oxygenated water, and their labyrinth allows them to breath from the surface instead of directly through water. Good Luck!
